 My last 8 dances have been in around the track at Doughboy park, mostly, listening to Joel Davis mixes. A few have been good, but I didn't stop to record any notes. Today's was spectacular, so here you go. 

I recommend the Vibrarian Mix called "The Forest For the Trees" on Mixcloud. It's a stellar set with one surprising and danceable song after another. Joel is an artist and the DJ mix is his medium. At his best there is a running theme to follow in the music. (A recent mix up on Mixcloud is "Flight of the Coup Coup Bird" which orbits around the siege of the capital. The last song on that mix was Dylan's "Everything is Broken" peformed by by a ragged Lucinda Williams sounding like Patti Smith.)

The Forest for the Trees" kept me dancing hard around the track for an hour. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground which I found excellent for half skating, sliding around the track, cruising.

On the non-dancing, but still heavily inspired, tip I also recommend Jacke Wilson's "History of Literature" podcast on John Keats, pts. 1 and 2. It's the best thing I've heard on Keats and is as uplifting as the breath of poetry itself can be.   

Both took me to a place of the Nth degree this weekend.

(It was also great to watch The Music Man, My Fair Lady and Willow with the girls.)

Started early, with a new Mixmasterpiece Theater, which completely lived up to its title. Wow, what a set.  I did 2 things new today.  1. Move. I used weights to swing both arms around and up to a T, on both sides. I did this because I thought it would be good for tennis game, since it replicates forehand and backhand movements. Best thing was how it synced up with synth sweeps. Speaking of syncing with synth sweeps... 2. Wrote a poem from lines of The Vibrarian set, which came out beautifully: Take me on There’s a riot going on. What does forever mean? Today I went to Mt. Zion Cemetery. I noticed on the map it was tucked back behind the cemetery I usually go to, Calvary. And I wanted to go to a Jewish Queens cemetery anyway because I told my friend Jacques Delaguerre that I would look for his grandfather's gravestone, which is apparently somewhere in Queens. An impossible task, but one which I was happy to begin. First of all, it was not easy to get into this cemetery. It is closed off from Calvary and you have to take a side street and enter in between the Sanitation dept. and a police station. The cemetery itself is overrun with weeds and flowers. The gravestones are very close together, almost haphazardly laid out. And mostly of a darker hue than the gravestones at Calvary. It is very different from neatly kept and organized Calvary cemetery. I couldn't help think about the chequered history of the Jews while I was here, especially those still alive during WWII. Cats were running around. And in one section I saw an aband
