Since I have the summer off and so do the kids, I started dad camp with them this morning. Meditation into music lessons into writing and reading into art into foreign languages into dance. For the last part of music lesson today we played our instruments along to New Philip Glass suite based on myth of Orpheus. We then learned the myth so we could follow the Glass score. The Orpheus myth dovetailed nicely into a Greek mythology lesson, which then segued into choosing a Greek God related to Orpheus and researching the character traits in order to better write about them. It’s cool when lessons flow like that.  The Glass score is a beauty. I recommend a listen. You can skip the first cafe section. Danced to new very Afrocentric BLM Mixmasterpiece Theater. New numbness in my calf, but otherwise Good end to a good day. Translation of Cocteau’s Orphee is next.

Lines from Vibrarian “Check It Out” set that resonated in today’s dance. “Need a long line”  “These memories can wait.” “I’m way down now. Give me something new something true.” Great set, crazy ride, from John Fahey to Sex Pistols.  Between this and reading again about Swann’s discovery of the Vintueil Sonata in Proust, it was a stellar day of life.  (Minus getting tested for Covid, which was awful.)

“When we talked about Somalia, we were talking about art music and sound. We must talk about war, but we prefer to talk about war through art and music.” “Dreadlocks what a shock Land of the free But not me.” There are always so many lyrics I want to write down from Joel Davis sets. The above quotes both from newest Mixmasterpiece Theater. Full hour dance, in basement, drenched with sweat. Sign of a good day.

Back in the basement in Queens, because I left my mask in Connecticut and therefore can’t go outside. So we make do.  Dancing to the new brilliant makes Masterpiece Theatre. The perfect set, the perfect length of time. Marveling how you can go from not wanting to move, to not wanting to stop. Moments of deep ecstatic enjoy coming from Bends in the music coinciding with Bends in the body, rushes of singing nerves. Also a thought, about the way reading, learning to read well, can be applied to any attention. That attention itself as a kind of reading, that sound can be read, music can be read it’s the transition from one thing to another, and the links between them. A complete theory of reading occurs to me. Basement art

It was the best of times, it was the end of times.   These were simultaneously Released today. Listened and danced through Queens. What an epic listen. With blackberries found next to railroad tracks for dessert. When you find a fork in the road,  uh. Next to hot gelato.  Don’t take it

A dance run through Queens, mask on, to the new Vibrarian Mixcloud set “Check It Out” and there was almost too much to see. Here are some highlights. What’s missing here are all the beautiful people (because people don’t always like to have their picture taken.) The biggest treasure was finding a new (and very urban) free library. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen one Around here. There was some great stuff in there too, as you’ll see in the photos. All together they make an essay.

Started early, with a new Mixmasterpiece Theater, which completely lived up to its title. Wow, what a set.  I did 2 things new today.  1. Move. I used weights to swing both arms around and up to a T, on both sides. I did this because I thought it would be good for tennis game, since it replicates forehand and backhand movements. Best thing was how it synced up with synth sweeps. Speaking of syncing with synth sweeps... 2. Wrote a poem from lines of The Vibrarian set, which came out beautifully: Take me on There’s a riot going on. What does forever mean? It means we’ll manage mastering your language and in the meantime I create my own. -Massive attack Don’t sweat the technique If it’s not the people It’s me And if it’s not me It’s the music. You might win some but you just lost one

Dance dance revolution. Feeling small and already gone. Watched Paraaite this morning. Between that and Emanuel Camilaire’s heart rending essay on BLM, I’m feeling out of sync.  Dance gets me back to open conduit of joy. It’s free and democratic!  Dance dance revolution  Terrasonic playlist

Graded 1984 essays, then listen to the album Harvest Moon and played along on porch, followed by learning and singing  the song Harnest Moon. Resolved to learn more songs. Tomorrow “Slip Sliding Away.” Danced to Vibrarian, girls joined me, first Sofia and them later Lucia. They were resistant, but managed to have some fun. Lots of cool moves, including “rag doll” , and the “kick off wall.”   Also read Proust and Richard Holmes on Coleridge, great passages. Ended night with Episode 19 of season 1 of Avatar.

Every breath and contains an opportunity to smell. That means every breath has its own powerful combination of sense, If you go on a walk, every breath will be distinctly olfacterly  unique.  Meditate on that next time you go out walking, especially in the spring on a rainy day especially in the spring on a rainy day I doubt this morning to make the day special, because days are starting to run together. So far I have read short story with Chia about the big bad pig and the three little wolves. The wolves learned that no matter how big the structure is, I can’t stop the wolf. So then they build their house out of flowers and the pig is in love. So that was pretty special. Then put on my favorite DJ and went for a run. Which is down. At one point I was going through a wooded path and there was a vine hanging down, one I have previously tested. Hi sorry to swing in and stop myself, I did two cheese it, seduce it, with dance, like a woman, and then we would swing. So I danced a while and
