My last 8 dances have been in around the track at Doughboy park, mostly, listening to Joel Davis mixes. A few have been good, but I didn't stop to record any notes. Today's was spectacular, so here you go.  I recommend the Vibrarian Mix called "The Forest For the Trees" on Mixcloud. It's a stellar set with one surprising and danceable song after another. Joel is an artist and the DJ mix is his medium. At his best there is a running theme to follow in the music. (A recent mix up on Mixcloud is "Flight of the Coup Coup Bird" which orbits around the siege of the capital. The last song on that mix was Dylan's "Everything is Broken" peformed by by a ragged Lucinda Williams sounding like Patti Smith.) The Forest for the Trees" kept me dancing hard around the track for an hour. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground which I found excellent for half skating, sliding around the track, cruising. On the non-dancing, but still heavily in

It's too bad I can't figure out a way to post pics easily on here. I got some great shots today. I also managed to get in the deep dance zone, where the music is swirling around you and the sun is warm and you just get lost in the dance. It is one of the most ecstatic feelings I know. And to hit it just once makes every effort worth it.  I'm screaming along to the music in absolute aliveness, sweeter than honey. I should also mention the mix, because it was fully spectacular. The Capitol got stormed today by a bunch of yahoos, egged on by our dumb President. It's all so embarrassing really.  This came right at the end of a day teaching about MF DOOM and Charles Bukowski, in their dark mash-up CELLZ. It seemed to fit. I got sucked into the news cycle and just kept scrolling. Finally I tore myself away and went to the cemetery to dance. It was an amazing difference. I screamed along with the music, "FA LAAA, THE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, FA LAAA!" A gorgeous sunset. And I just couldn't be mad anymore.  Music really is the best medicine.  Dancing. Nature. All of it.

A little description of a session Finished teaching 2pm.  Drank a strong cup of coffee. Put on dance shoes, coat and mask. Put on the most recent "Clockin' Out" mix from Joel Davis on Mixcloud.  (I give this mix an 13 out of 10.) I headed to the Cemetery. I danced up hill of Calvery.  I had that feeling of being lighter than air, which is something because there is a lot of gravity a lot of pressure above me plus old bones. But music helps tremendously. It is taking me.  Today there were several slow driving cars circling around and around, watching me. What were they doing there? I went to the big grassy meadow area and took off my shoes. In January. In NY. The grass felt good, cold and soft. I wondered if I was the only sane one around or the only crazy one? I often stop in front of one mausoleum belonging to one "Frank Alberti" and family and dance before it until someone comes out someone from my past. This time I got some girls from Kindergarten for starte

To get ready to teach poetry I went out and danced To dance as the sun peaks over the buildings is to feel your body wake up with the sun, a very uplifting moment. The rest of the day is set.
